There is a great mix of business opportunities and entertainment options and you will find countless great pieces of real estate throughout the city to call home. Whether you're moving from a Brampton house rental or just heading into the city from one of Chicago's bedroom communities, you'll be happy that you chose to make the move. Here's a short guide to real estate in Chicago to get your home search started.

If you're coming from a more modest city, like Mississauga homes, then the average listing price for Chicago of around $440,000 may seem a little steep. But, you should realize that there are over a hundred different neighborhoods in the city and each of them is in a different price bracket. On top of this, the median selling price for a home is currently only $250,000, meaning that we are looking at a buyer's market where you could get a great deal on a new home.

The average price per square foot for a home is $149. Like with Toronto townhouses there is a significant difference between one and four bedroom homes. A one-bedroom home, which is usually a condo or small bungalow, has an average listing price of $250,000. Homes with four or more bedrooms are listed starting at around $550,000. Any place from Chicago to Mississauga real estate that is affected by the seasons sees a decline in prices and number of homes on the market in the winter months. If you have the choice to relocate in this time, you can get a much better deal on a home.

Generally, the more expensive homes are located in the center of the city along the water. Neighborhoods like Outer Harbor are perfect for those looking for something more posh than your average Port Credit real estate but they should be prepared to pay for it. Homes in this area have an average selling price of $1.2 million, which is significantly higher than the average listing price of only $800,000.

Wicker Park, Bucktown and Edgewater are great places to start the search for a more modest home design. The first two have average listing prices of around $500,000, while the latter homes go for closer to $250,000. Irving Park and Loop are also quite popular with new homeowners. Wicker Park and Bucktown are both right in the center of the city and Irving Park is a little south of that. Edgewater is along the river in the north and Loop has waterfront real estate further south of that. Each of these neighborhoods would be a great place to start a life in Chicago.
